EDUCATION AND TRAINING

2025 COURSE OFFERINGS
February 3-7
February 19-20

Further your career as a port professional with educational and networking benefits gained from attending an IAMPE seminar! The Association offers a variety of programs tailored to a wide range of experience levels for both blue- and brown-water professionals.

Our flagship offering – the Maritime Port Executive (MPE) program – is an intensive, five-day seminar that covers all aspects of port management in detail. Graduates of the program will be equipped with a deep macro-level understanding of how the port industry fits in the global transportation system as well as comprehensive knowledge of the day-to-day functions required for a successful port.

The IAMPE’s Marine Terminal Operator Program is perfect for those new to the port industry. This program introduces the basics of port operations, terminal management, and the public and private entities that comprise a port. This 16-hour program provides students with practical lectures from experienced terminal operators and case studies based on real-world situations faced by various ports across North America. Certification as a Marine Terminal Operator (MTO) is awarded to participants.

The IAMPE also offers continuing education programs that feature a revolving list of guest speakers on a wide variety of topics in the industry. These two-day sessions are focused on providing the most up-to-date information to professionals in the industry. Equip yourself and your port with the knowledge of current trends in the industry, and enable your organization to make strategic decisions to grow your port.

The various backgrounds and experience levels of attendees provides additional value to the program. MPM/MPE/Continuing Education seminars are designed to maximize participation as attendees will draw knowledge not only from the seminar material, but also from other attendees in the program. The program is designed to attract professionals with specialty knowledge in specific areas of port management, including operations, finance, security, etc., in both public and private ports. The knowledge gained from others in the course serves to reinforce and add to the course material.

For more information about any of the IAMPE’s offerings, click the corresponding link on the schedule above, or on the menu bar at the top of the page.

Students who complete the program(s) earn the Maritime Port Manager, Maritime Port Executive or Inland Port Manager/Executive certification. These certifications have been reviewed and approved by the Association’s Board – a group of 20 high-level port professionals across North America.

Graduates also receive a complimentary 1-year membership to the association. This membership grants access to the IAMPE’s electronic library, the IAMPE’s network of port professionals, and ongoing support from the association’s faculty regarding any of the topics covered during the course.
